Dr. Patrick L. Spencer, DO was appointed Chairman of the Ophthalmology Department for Grandview/Southview Medical Centers. Dr. Spencer completed his Residency at Grandview Medical Center in 1998 and has been in Solo Practice in the Professional Arts Building next to Grandview Medical Center since then. He continues to teach and work with the ophthalmology residents of Grandview Medical Center. In 2004 The Congressional Glaucoma Caucus, which is a group of United States Congress members dedicate
d to fighting glaucoma and other eye diseases, awarded Dr. Spencer a continual grant to start and fund the Student Sight Savers program at Wright State University. To date, Dr. Spencer, and his team of medical students have screened over 2500 non-insured individuals in the Dayton area for glaucoma. He is the Team Ophthalmologist for the University of Dayton Athletic Department and has been the Dayton Dragons Baseball team Ophthalmologist since their inaugural year; providing acute care and sports vision screening exams to give players their best possible vision correction.
