Dr. Margaret Noel is a fellowship trained geriatrian who founded MemoryCare as a non-profit charitable organization in 2000. MemoryCare’s mission is to provide specialized medical care to older adults with memory loss; to support caregivers with education, counseling, and improved access to services; to provide community education. Our vision is to be the region's leading organization for issues relating to memory and aging and a model program for quality dementia care.
In a multi-disciplinary
team approach (physician, physician assistant, nurse, social worker) we incorporate caregiver education, counseling, and support into the evaluation and management of the patient. Consumer satisfaction rates measured through biennial surveys and indirectly through donor support are exceptional. While the program is designed to meet different needs for different families, the survey supports that services reduced caregiver stress for 86% of respondents, helped guide them to needed community resources (96%), improved caregiver knowledge regarding memory disorders (97%), provided assistance with behavioral management (88%), treated their loved one with dignity and respect (100%) and prolonged the time that they could keep their loved one at home (85%). In addition, our staff provides an extensive community based education curriculum on aging and cognitive disorders and we serve as an education site for health care professionals from multiple disciplines. Full detail of services can be found at www.memorycare.org.
