Philip Moore DO FASAM is founder and CEO of Associates In Medical Toxicology (AMT). During a fellowship in medical toxicology, Dr. Moore realized the negative impact of substance use disorders on physical and mental health. Untreated, these conditions can be costly for patients, families, communities and the healthcare system.
Recognizing an opportunity for systemic improvement, Dr. Moore, while continuing to serve as a consulting and attending physician at a local hospital system, began to stu
dy the treatment landscape for patients following medication overdose. Stigma surrounding addiction, availability of services, and underutilization of evidence based modalities were major obstacles for recovery. Dr. Moore realized the benefits and evidence supporting medication assisted therapy (MAT) and became the medical director of a state-licensed opioid treatment program (OTP).
To bridge treatment gaps, AMT was created as a specialty program to expand resources available to patients whom are involved with counseling outside of a state licensed OTP. AMT can treat patients with alcohol, opioid, benzodiazepine/sedative, tobacco and other substance use disorders.
Dr. Moore is a fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and active member of the Addiction Subsection of the American College of Medical Toxicology. Dr. Moore has published articles and book chapters on adverse event data-mining, antidotes, delirium management, pharmacology, team-based learning, and telemedicine. He is an expert in systems analysis, quality improvement, urine drug screen interpretation and critical care toxicology. Dr. Moore speaks locally and nationally regarding topics in medical toxicology and addiction.
