It wasn’t until my beloved miniature Schnauzer, Max died on Dec. 27, 2010 that I realized how important the portraits were that I’d taken over the course of his life became. I’ve always been a wedding and portrait photographer by profession, but would generally use Max as my model to practice new photography techniques and keep up my skills. I never imagined that those photos would prove to provide much comfort and “therapy” after his passing. These weren’t just snapshot, but portraits at each
stage of his life. Viewing them caused all of the very important memories to rush back like a powerful flood.
It occurred to me that, if I felt this way, so would other pet lovers. With that in mind, I made the decision to branch out to include pet portraits in my photography business.
