Established in 2010 After 13 years of tattooing at the time, Art Machine Productions was started by owner and artist Tim Pangburn in a small private studio in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. In 2011, the studio was moved to it’s permanent location only a mile away, a 2700+ sq.ft. converted warehouse built in 1865 located on the up and coming Frankford Ave. Arts Corridor.
Upon moving to the larger location, Tim recruited Steph Affet in as a partner in running the studio. While she is
not an artist and will be the first to tell you so, she currently handles all of the inner workings and legal responsibilities of Art Machine Productions. Her duties include public relations, billing, merchandising, and client inquiries. Steph works closely with several charitable organizations on behalf of Art Machine Productions, including the organization of charity events and sponsorships.
Will Majors was brought in as Art Machine's manager in 2014. Will directly oversees the studio and all of the artists along with Tim Pangburn.
We’re lucky to have acquired such an amazing family of artists and people here at Art Machine Productions over the past few years. Nick Panzer was taken on as an apprentice by Tim a few months after opening in our larger location. Nick is now working as a full time artist and continuing to develop his craft. While he gravitates towards a more traditional style of tattooing, his work is beginning to reflect his own personal style.
Steve Bishov was happily added to the family. While he does continue to do some color tattoos, Steve’s true love lies in black and gray tattoos. He’s become the “go to” guy for portraits of loved ones, pets, and the recreation of famous paintings as tattoos. Steve also enjoys doing wood burnings and works in several other mediums of art.
In October of 2013 we welcomed gentle giant, Billy Weigler who came to us all the way from Texas. Billy’s preferred style of tattooing can be described as neo-traditional. His seamless color blends from bright to deep give sort of a moody vibe to the viewer while his attention to detail leaves something new to be discovered with each glance.
August 2014 brought us Nick ‘The Tailor’, a local tattooer with a strong drive to create anything and everything. Nick works in a multitude of artistic mediums outside of tattooing. From photography, to painting, and everywhere in between, Nick’s desire to create and grow as an artist caught our eye. We’re excited to have him as a part of our family.
October 2014 brought us long time friend Ryan Szadyr from Virginia, an artist whose traditional tattoos and beautiful watercolor paintings make us nostalgic for the days of Sailor Jerry and some of the other forefathers of traditional tattooing.
We've recently added Andy Robinson to the family. Andy's style is more new school than anything else, with a fun cartoonish flare. He also enjoys working outside of that style in black and gray as well as traditional.
