For nine years, I have offered personalized, fun piano and voice lessons to students of all ages, including adults. I give my students a well-rounded balance of developing creativity, mastering healthy technique, understanding music theory, improving sight-reading, exploring improvisation and composition, and nurturing inner expression. Let's not forget having fun, either!
As a part of developing healthy, expressive technique, I incorporate my studies of the Alexander Technique, Body Mapping,
and the Lister-Sink Method to cultivate healthy posture, free movement, and prevent injury. Healthy technique is so important because "the incidence of playing-related injury continues to hover around 60 to 70% into the 21st century" (Freeing the Caged Bird, 2006)
I hold a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Music (Vocal Performance) from Lewis & Clark College. I am experienced working with students of all ages, including preschoolers and young children. I have studied Alexander Technique with Lisa Marsh and Mary Lois Misken, studied classical piano for 16 years and studied classical and jazz singing for 7 years. I also offer experience in improvisation, songwriting, singing with a band, and concert tours.
