Hi, My name is Analita and I am a native, English-speaking teacher from New Jersey, USA, certified in both teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL/ESL) and in English writing and literature (ELA). I have been teaching ESL now for the past 13 years, both here in the USA and abroad (Japan and Colombia in South America). During this time, I have worked with students of all ages, different English levels and with quite a few nationalities. In Japan, I worked with kindergartners to sen
ior-level executives at the Toshiba headquarters in Kitakami City, Iwate-ken, and in Bogota, Colombia, I taught Spanish-speaking, business professionals how to acquire the levels of English necessary for their work. They come from industries such as: multi-national pharmaceuticals; banking; oil and gas; accounting firms; hospitality and tourism and government employees. Before deciding to teach ESL, I worked at a public, magnet, high school, teaching American students writing and literature (I also taught this subject in Colombia at a bi-lingual, international school). I use the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach, because it is very interactive and facilitates student communication. Together with CLT, I implement task-based language teaching (tblt), which is learning to use the type of English that is necessary for daily life by creating situations and using the language for those situations (whether they be for academic or professional purposes). When teaching ESL/ESOL, I work with my students on their overall diction for speaking: pronunciation, articulation, enunciation, intonation, grammatical accuracy and vocabulary development. For writing, I focus on grammar, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary, capitalization, syntax, and usage of the appropriate tones for whom the work is being addressed. I also employ exercises and activities to teach listening and reading. For recent student reviews, and more information you can visit my web-site.
