Welcome to St. Andrew's Early Childhood Center!
Exciting times lie ahead for your preschool child. Our Early Childhood Center strives to provide an environment in which the spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth of the child is fostered. Being a Catholic Center, we incorporate Bible Stories, prayer, and Christian values into our daily lessons. We hope to instill the importance of each unique individual and to promote the worth of each child's ideas, feelings and action
s.
Daily activities center around appropriate developmental levels for each age. Intellectual and physical activities (both gross motor and fine motor) are included each day to challenge and stimulate the growing child. Children participate in arts and crafts, music class, storytelling, cutting and pasting, sand and water play, nature walks and in-house field trips. Color, shape, letters, time and number concepts are taught at your child's level of understanding.
Most importantly, the children learn on a daily basis how to play with their peers in a cooperative manner, learning to share with others and create friendships. We work together with parents to broaden the experience of their preschool child and to help each child find happiness and security in his/her ever-expanding world.
LOCATION
St. Andrews Early Childhood Center (ECC) is located on the grounds of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church at 3008 Old Raleigh Road in Apex, North Carolina. Landmarks nearby include US 64 West and Eva Perry Regional Library. The Early Childhood Center is housed on the first floor of the CARE Center (Community and Religious Education Center.)
HOURS OF OPERATION
9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
LUNCH
Each day parents send a nutritious lunch and drink for their child. Children usually eat between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. Generally there is no snack in the morning prior to lunch; however, there may be times when cooking experiences are incorporated to enhance our theme for the day.
TEACHERS AND STUDENTS
Each classroom has two co-teachers who share equal responsibility for the students. In each three year old classroom, there are 12 students. Our four year olds classrooms have 12-14 students, and our Five Day classroom has 18 students. All teachers have extensive experience working with young children, and are provided with continuing education classes to enhance their teaching skills. All ECC Staff members receive training in CPR and First Aid each August. A well-stocked first aid kit is readily available to the staff.
CALENDAR
Our school year begins after Labor Day and concludes before Memorial Day (no classes in June). In general, we will follow a "Catholic School" calendar, similar to those of Catholic elementary schools in the Cary/Apex area.
